For children aged 3 to 5 with an Individualized Education Plan (IEP), specialized education services, including SEIT (Special Education Itinerant Teacher) services and related services (Speech, Occupational, Physical, and/or Counseling), are often recommended. These services aim to assist the child in developing essential skills and reaching their full potential.
Upon receiving a referral from the child's parent, guardian, or a school official, our agency, approved by the Committee of Preschool Special Education (CPSE), initiates the process to provide SEIT services for children ages 3 to 5. These services are fully funded by the Department of Education (DOE), and there is no cost to the parent.
A SEIT provider engages with the child on a 1:1 basis or in a small group setting within their current educational environment. This approach focuses on cultivating age-appropriate cognitive, communication, fine and gross motor, and daily living skills.
In addition to SEIT services, eligible children may receive speech and language, physical, occupational therapy, and counseling to achieve specific skills in those areas. Our commitment is to carefully assign providers who are a suitable fit to address the child's unique needs and help them attain their prescribed IEP goals.
We initiate a collaborative approach with a child's parents and school personnel upon receiving a referral. Together, we work towards acquiring the utmost services possible and coordinate them in a way that best supports the child in achieving their prescribed goals.
